Forever Rome, known as "Shakey" to her owners Mary Peters and Dotti Townsend-Richardson, was a Champion in all phases of her life. She was sired by Roman Straw Man out of Truckle Time, AQHA. As a two-year old, she won Pleasure Driving at the World Championship Show in 1983. In 1985, she was National Champion Side Saddle Horse. That year she also won the California Appaloosa Superior Champion award with a total of 352 ROM points. She was State Champion in Jr. Trail and Side Saddle and Reserve Champion in Aged Mares, Jr. Hunt Seat Pleasure, Saddle Seat, and Pleasure Driving. In July 1994 a piece of triangle shaped metal blew off the barn roof and into her corral, lodging itself in her foot at the coronary band. The wound was not discovered immediately, and the metal created a very toxic wound; damage was major. Veterinarian, Craig Brooks, performed surgery, cutting away the major part of the hoof. He installed penrose drains and called a farrier specialist. He feared that the hoof was going to totally die and fall off. Treatment went on twice a day for months. Although the prognosis was for one year's complete rest and treatment, the outlook was not good that Shakey would ever be ridden again. But, Memorial weekend, 1995, Shakey did enter the show ring again and won High Point English Horse at Mid Valley's Show. She went on a few weeks later to win High Point English Horse and High Point Performance Horse at the NorCal Show in Red Bluff.

In 1996 she was Reserve Champion National High Point Jumping Horse, ApHC Versatility Champion, winning National ROM's in Hunter Hack, Hunter under Saddle, Saddle Seat, Jumpers and Ladies Side Saddle. Besides winning C-WA High Point Performance Horse, she was Jumper Champion and Side Saddle Champion.

In 1999 Shakey had her first foal at the age of 18. A filly named Roman Bar Passer by Carol Dal Porto's Pass It On Down stallion. Last year this filly won the Cal-Western 2-year old Western Pleasure Futurity.

On June 10, 2000 Forever Rome gave birth to Roman Forever sired by Zippo Pine Chip, owned by Pat and Patti Ansuini. He was shown in the 2001 Cal-Western lounge Line Futurity.

On March 13, 2001 "Shakey" had to be euthanized. That day even the veterinarian had tears in her eyes...
