Irish Coffee ~ 1997

If Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce were here today, he would be smiling. Irish Coffee '76 is a horse after his own heart. Bred by Lloyd Mader of the Red Spur Ranch in Gilroy, California, Irish Coffee '76 was foaled on July 7, 1976. He was sired by Red Eagle's Spur of the 1001 and out of Peacocks Chico Chicett by Red Eagle's Peacock by Red Eagle. Red Eagle was one of the foundation sires in the Appaloosa Horse Club's registry, and is dispersed through the pedigree of Irish Coffee '76 on both the top and bottom sides.

"Irish" is owned and trained by Marilyn Orlando, who has ridden him to all of his victories over these many years. From 1986 through 1993, Irish Coffee '76 received seven bronze medallions from the ApHC for Competitive Trail and Endurance. Together, they have logged three thousand miles with the Appaloosa Horse Club and have twice earned the Chief Joseph award. During this same period of time they received numerous prestigious awards that have all been based on distance traveled, sweepstakes wins, best condition, best Appaloosa, first Appaloosa, and first & reserve time and distance placings, from the AraAppaloosa & Foundation Breeders International, the American Endurance Horse Registry, NATRAC, Cal-Western Appaloosa, Mission Trails Appaloosa Horse Club and the Golden State Appaloosa Horse Association.
